There was a time when feminine linen pieces were a smug souvenir from a Euro summer, but founders Sophie Coote and Nikki democratised the little white dress with the launch of their uniquely aspirational yet accessible contemporary women’s wear brand, Sir The Label in 2014. Since then, the brand’s clean take on nostalgia, feminine silhouettes and ready to wear styles, as expressed through the editorial escapism of its enviable Instagram feed, has seen SIR The Label become a wardrobe staple of women all around the globe.

Proving that less really is more, Matteau’s ethos of considered simplicity is threaded throughout its swim and resort offering. Designed to last a lifetime, Matteau’s clean-cut pieces are an exercise in subtle elegance that simply doesn’t date. Founded by Sydney-born sisters Peta Heinsen and Ilona Hamer, the siblings’ emphasis on fewer, better things makes sustainability seem irresistibly chic.

The talented, humble and incredibly kindhearted women and sisters behind Bondi-born and now Byron-based lifestyle brand Zulu & Zephyr know a thing or two about swimwear. Their iconic bikini separates and one pieces combine sleek and sporty silhouettes with an undeniable sexy edge that appeals to every body shape, and their accompanying resort wear pieces, including cult denim and clothing with an easy, throw-on appeal, look as good on the beach as they do on the street. In a world of endless outfit options, there is no doubt that careful curation is an art form, and no one does an edit quite like My Chameleon. Mixing the likes of local heroes Christopher Esber, Lee Mathews and Ellery with cult international labels such as Jacquemus and Veja, My Chameleon is a treasure trove of contemporary design. NATALIE FITCH | NATALIE MARIE JEWELLERY

Natalie Marie Jewellery was born out of a passion for beautiful objects, a natural appreciation for the handcrafted, and a desire to create. With a background in fashion and fine arts, goldsmith Natalie has created a label which has at its heart an ethos based on connection, sentiment and originality. Creating each piece by hand in her Sydney studio, Natalie understands the unlimited possibilities of precious metals and uses this knowledge to create pieces that will be valued throughout the owner’s lifetime.

Edwina is the creative director and co-designer of Australian label Aje and the unofficial sweetheart of Australian fashion. Petite though she may be, Edwina packs a serious style punch with her generous, spirited nature and polished flair. Her designs bring a fresh energy to femininity, with an easy, tomboyish elegance having become an Aje signature of sorts - the kind that has made it a sartorial must-have season after season.

Brie Leon is a Sydney based jewellery and handbag label that prides itself on wearable classics. Inspired by founder Janine Zafra’s love of vintage design and heirloom quality, Brie Leon’s pieces elevate every day and any ensemble with their classic appeal. Run by women and with an emphasis on sustainable practice and vegan leather, Brie Leon makes ethical fashion look and feel effortless.

BEC NOLAN, CASS MOASE & ALI MITTON | VELVET CANYON

Velvet Canyon was born out of a desire to create something that was both beautiful and lasting, that seamlessly merged the forever appeal of vintage with a modern and minimalist aesthetic. Pulling inspiration from the 1960s and 70s, Velvet Canyon have created an eyewear collection that is both thoughtful and timeless. While effortlessly elevated, every detail of the design process is carefully considered; using the highest quality materials, with very style featuring custom tinted lenses and champagne-gold detailing. Even the pouch that protects the sunnies is made of biodegradable, cruelty free vegan leather.

HOLLY RYAN | HOLLY RYAN JEWELLERY

Born and bred in sunny Queensland, Holly Ryan’s coastal living flows through the sculptural lines of her distinctive jewellery and accessories line. From sourcing recycled materials and ethical stones in her jewellery, to handcrafting sculptures, Holly Ryan’s artisan approach has been wholly embraced by the mainstream fashion lover. Croatian born Tanja Gacic is a Sydney based blogger, writer, stylist, photographer, creative director and online contributor. Tanja moved from Croatia to New Zealand with her family at age 14 before being discovered by a modelling agency. As she moved around the globe, seeing the world for the first time , she understood change as an opportunity to create. Tanja is now a regular online fashion contributor for myempiricallife.com and vogue.com.au and she works with several charities close to her heart , appearing in and supporting the Witchery Ovarian Cancer Campaign and also endorsing initiatives for Plan For Girls , Greenpeace and WWF

AMY FINLAYSON | THE FIN COLLECTION

Originally from Perth, Finlayson’s career started in New York City and sees her currently living in Bondi Beach, Sydney. Her vast travels and early success as a model both nationally and internationally, has shaped her artistic career in many ways. Holding a B.F.A and launching her own creative company, The Fin Collection, she is not bound by general convention and standard industry aesthetics. Her artwork sees her influences rooted strongly in contemporary, boundary pushing mixed media. Store director of Anine Bing Fiveways, she is surrounded by fashion and contemporary visual culture which is the epitome of everything she does.

LARA & MATT FELLS | ST AGNI

Husband and wife team Matt and Lara Fells have reimagined coastal ease by way of handmade leather footwear and accessories with St Agni. From the runaway success of its signature woven leather sandals in 2014, the Byron Bay label now offers its earthy, pared back aesthetic from top to toe with a full suite of wearable linens, cosy knits, denim and even swim.

Kelly Davies Green, founder of Maurie + Eve, is committed to using sustainable design principles in all facets of life. Inspired by the idyllic surrounds of her Northern Beaches home, Kelly is committed to protecting the natural environment for the health and enjoyment of future generations.

ROSIE IFFLA & CHRISTINE TANG | FELLA SWIM

Fella Swim founders, Rosie Iffla and Christine Tang started Fella Swim with a simple but unprecedented mission - to create swimwear that spoke to the Calvin Klein cool of clean lines and a lingerie-like allure. It wasn’t long before the fresh sophistication of Fella’s signature textured cloth and minimalist silhouettes made waves at home and abroad.

NINA GORDON | FLASH JEWELLERY

Flash Jewellery is a contemporary Jewellery label for the modern woman, creating a series of easy-wearing and effortless styles with the desire to redefine your jewellery essentials. Based in Byron Bay, and founded by Kiwi designer Nina Gordon, Flash is consciously handcrafted by skilled Artisans. Every detail is considered and only high-quality metals, thick micron gold plate, 295 sterling silver and brass are used. Flash uses and recycles all metals and their manufacturer is a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council.

KELLY ATKINSON | SHOWROOM-X

Kelly's background in visual merchandising and creative direction put her in perfect standing to co-found Showroom-X, a digital platform to help tell the stories of brands and artists with a timeless, less-is-more ethos. The platform’s MO isn’t too dissimilar from Atkinson’s own sartorial approach, which leans toward soft tailoring in classic cuts - and ultimately eschews seasonality. Taking a truly informed approach to sustainability - and with a penchant for Dolly Parton - she’s a woman after our own heart, and now, your wardrobe.

CHARLOTTE HICKS | ESSE STUDIOS

ESSE was born out of frustration for the sheer excess and waste that is evident in the fashion industry. Charlotte Hicks, the founder of the brand has over 10 years experience designing for leading global fashion brands and she wants to encourage and nurture a slower more sustainable message. Each collection from ESSE is designed as an addition to the last, as a means to promote a more sustainable wardrobe. The conscious curation of timeless pieces emanate a timeless elegance that is fashion forward but not driven by seasonal trends.

MAGGIE HEWITT | MAGGIE MARILYN

Maggie Marilyn is a brand that is not afraid of bold, bright colours and feminine designs, creating fun but reliable pieces for the modern woman. At the helm of Maggie Marilyn is Maggie Hewitt, who is making fashion statements not only with her clothes but her approach to managing her business. The brand was founded to make a difference in an industry that needed change, using fashion as a way to create a better world. Maggie Marilyn’s mission is to transform the fashion industry to one that is transparent, circular, regenerative and inclusive and is really setting the pace for fashion brands who seek to be more sustainable.

MARY LOU RYAN & DEBORAH SAMS | BASSIKE

Bassike has become one of Australia’s greatest fashion exports, with hard working basics and statement pieces that ease into every woman’s wardrobe. Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan established bassike together in 2006 with a vision to create luxurious and wearable everyday pieces with a design pedigree that allow them to work in a structured wardrobe just as well as a pair of trainers. The bassike philosophy centres on high-quality design and construction with a commitment to sustainable manufacturing. The brand supports local industry by producing their organic jersey and mainline collections locally in Australia.

SARAH HARRIS AND LAUREN TAPPER | HARRIS TAPPER

In 2017, Sarah Harris and Lauren Tapper saw a gap in the market for high-quality, directional women’s shirting at an accessible price point. Due to customer and retailer demand, Harris Tapper has quickly progressed from a tight range of women’s shirting into full collections. A spirit of modern sensibility is at the heart of the brand, with the intention is to build a business centred around a generation of women who are unwavering, forward-thinking and ambitious in celebration of their femininity. They have a 360 degree approach to design as they see a shift in the way many women integrate their personal and professional lives, seeking to create pieces that can be worn easily throughout her day and with one another, and a variety of wardrobe staples.

CHLOE DUNLOP | SHE MADE ME

She Made Me designer Chloe Dunlop designs unique pieces which embody an earthy, romantic nostalgia using traditional handcrafts. A true departure from the mass manufactured norms so typically found in the industry today, She Made Me celebrates and supports the heritage and art of crochet and the artists who help in producing these delicate works, all handmade in Bali.

BECK JACK | PEONY

Fun and flirty beach wear with serious soul, Peony have become leaders in creating a brand that encompasses a new sensibility for Australian swimwear. Leaving a career in criminal law to start Peony, Beck Jack claims Peony is “a love letter to the cusp of summer and following one’s heart”. Her brand has become an eco-pioneer in the swimwear category, with all pieces are made entirely from recycled and sustainable fabrications. Peony develops its own custom sustainable fabrications and textile prints in-house exclusively, proving sustainability is aligned with luxury.

JODY FELDHOFER AND JESS CADBY | NICE MARTIN

Nice Martin builds a wardrobe that suits the everyday lifestyle. With a selection of carefully curated items, each piece is made with love to create simple styles in bold shapes and colours. Founders, Jess Cadby and Jody Feldhofer, aim to create authentic designs from high quality materials that are influenced by a “handsome aesthetic and feminine cool.” Each collection from Nice Martin is designed in ethical conditions and produced in small runs to ensure that there is less waste going back to the environment. Through the mindful curation of clothing, Nice Martin aims to bring out each girls’ individuality and sense of fun while being comfortable.

KATIE KOLODINSKI | SILK LAUNDRY

Silk Laundry is a family of individual thinkers brought together under the vision of Creative Director and founder Katie Kolodinski. Allowing intuition to be her guide, Katie desired to create a brand that explores the intersection of luxury, conscious living and philanthropy. All pieces are designed with the ethos that they are untouched by the influence of trends and the inevitability of time.

EMMA MULHOLLAND | HOLIDAY THE LABEL

Launching Holiday by Emma Mulholland in 2017 at Sydney Fashion Week, Emma set out to create a range of core silhouettes that spoke to the colourful yet relaxed style of holiday dressing. She continues to dream up exciting colours and prints for each new collection, bringing the aspirational holiday wardrobe back to the everyday with unique, screen-printed separates. Holiday by EM became a celebrity favorite with shout outs from Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kourtney Kardashian, Hailey Bieber and more.

From little things, big things grow.

There have been a handful of generous people who believed in our vision for Worn For Good from the beginning, when it was just an idea taking its shape. It is so heartening to see what can be achieved when a group of skilled and passionate people come together for the sake of social enterprise.
